โ“ Common Questions

Payroll Compliance: questions we hear

When are EPF and ESIC contributions due?
Both are due by the 15th of the month following the wage month. Late payment attracts interest, and long delays attract damages. Our compliance calendar shows the schedule.
Does Professional Tax apply in every state?
No. Roughly half of India's states levy it, and there is no central registration. Each state has its own slabs, registration and payment frequency, so multi-state employers need a state-wise schedule.
Has anything changed for payroll under the Labour Codes?
Yes. The Code on Wages defines wages uniformly, so basic pay plus dearness allowance generally needs to make up at least half of total remuneration. That affects salary structures and every contribution calculated on wages. We review structures with you.
