About Child Pension Service

Under the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), 1995, children of a deceased EPF member are eligible for a monthly pension. This benefit ensures that the financial well-being of minor children is protected. The child pension is paid from the date of death of the member until the child turns 25 years (or until marriage for daughters). In case both parents are deceased, the child receives an orphan pension. Our service helps families navigate the documentation and claim process with care and efficiency.

📌 Child Pension Benefits:
• Monthly pension for children up to 25 years (or 25 years for unmarried daughters).
• Amount: 25% of the widow's pension per child (subject to maximum 50% total for all children).
• Orphan pension: 75% of the widow's pension if both parents deceased.
• Pension is credited to the child's bank account or guardian's account.

Frequently Asked Questions on Child Pension

What is the maximum age for child pension under EPS?
Child pension is paid until the child reaches 25 years of age. For daughters, it continues until marriage if earlier. After 25 years, the child is no longer eligible.
How much pension does a child receive?
Each child receives 25% of the widow's pension, subject to a total of 50% for all children combined. If the widow is not eligible (deceased or remarried), children get a higher share. Orphan children (both parents deceased) get 75% of the pension.
Can adopted children claim child pension?
Yes, legally adopted children are eligible for pension under EPS, provided they were adopted before the member's death and proof of adoption is submitted.
What happens if the widow remarries?
If the widow remarries, she loses her pension, but the children continue to receive their share of the pension (which then increases to 50% of the original pension if only children remain).
How do I claim child pension if the widow is not alive?
If the widow is deceased, the children become orphan pensioners. A guardian (relative or legal guardian) can file the claim on behalf of minor children. We help with the entire process.
